Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the world so sweet.
Thank you for the birds that sing.
Thank you, God, for everything...
I used to say this prayer with my mother every night when I was a little girl. Reading Lindsey at Learning to be a Wife's most recent post reminded me of it, and also inspired me to steal her idea.
The "everything" I'm thankful for these days...
-my fiance
-my family
-the successful removal of a sock from Archie's tummy
-all the work my mom does planning my wedding
-everyone who has helped me finally make some academic progress
-my jobs
-my fiance's job
-my dad's job
-my excellent students
-Cherry Coke
-my niece or nephew (coming in October!)
-finally being able to pay off my credit card
-memoirs
-blogs
-Chick-fil-A
-home
-Tami my hairdresser
-Tim Gunn
-CSI (all of them except Miami)
-my cousins who provide such good examples of what married life can be like
-magazines, especially my current favorite, House Beautiful
-getting to live at home for 2 months before I get married
-dreams about my grandma
(and you, too, of course, Faithful Readers!)

This is the same prayer my family used to say (except we switched the order of the first two lines). Thank you for this lovely reminder!

Awww...I love that prayer! It's so simple and sweet...
And yes, I agree with you about shopping. I always regret not buying something I really love!
I remember that prayer from when I was little. What a lovely post, you always put a smile on my face and I'm thankful for that!
Everyone has something to be thankful for...I'm glad you count your blessings, I try to do the same every day :)
