After a panicky email from my mother about the state of my bridal registry ("Everything's almost gone!"), I've gotten a little panicky myself about the things I didn't include on it, namely bedding for our extra bedrooms and shower curtains.
I'm the type who likes to build a room through unique pieces collected over a period of years. Registries are great for the types of things you buy in sets, e.g. crystal goblets, fine china, pots and pans. Not so great for the types of things you hope you'll find on a summer afternoon spent trawling through small stores occupying the altstadt of a European city. [Okay, I've only ever done that once, but a great image, right? My more typical trawls are through the Anthropologie "altstadt," i.e. the sale room.]
And I've had enough trouble finding bedding for the master bedroom, not to mention two more (fortunately, my current Pottery Barn bedding will still do for one bedroom)... The usual suspects--Macys and Pottery Barn--turned up nothing. A trip to Bed Bath and Beyond didn't help, either; I'm hoping a quick trip to my brick and mortar Super Target will do the trick, but I'm not confident... This is a lot of pressure, after all!
That's why I think I've hit upon a winner with this idea: I can at the very least make my own shower curtains with Amy Butler fabric!
I fell in love with Amy Butler's textile designs after seeing so much of them on Etsy. Here are a few of my favorites...
Linen/Floating Buds from the Midwest Modern 2 collection

Dandelion Field/Grey from the Daisy Chain collection

Tangerine/Dream Poppies from the August Fields collection

Cherry/ Wallflower from the Lotus collection
... Amy Butler fabrics make my heart sing! (And have great shower curtain potential, too, don't you think?!)

Amy Butler bedding at Bed, Bath & Beyond this summer!
isn't Amy Butler the best? I love your handmade shower curtain idea!
(funny story, my husband and I are both Purdue alums--I got my master's there a few years ago--what I would give for some sushi from Kokoro!)
