Hello, friends!

Have I told you that my new closet is the size of a small bedroom? They don't build basements where I live, so I guess this is how I compensate... Anyway, instead of feeling relief or joy at all this space, I'm majorly stressed out by it; the closet is essentially a room, and rooms need decorating, right?!
I've been thinking that I could decorate with some of my cooler accessories, but hadn't been able to find any good examples of how to do this until today when I saw Roundup: Jewelry as Decor on Apartment Therapy.
Here's my favorite image:

I don't have a lot of big chunky necklaces (in fact, I don't think I have any), but I think something like this could look really great with the vintage jewelry or handbags that I do have.
I also found this darling coat rack via Apartment Therapy.

At first I was thinking of using it downstairs in my entryway, but it could also look great in my closet with scarves draped on it. Maybe I should just get two...
Do you have any ideas or sources to share? How would you decorate/organize your ultimate closet?

What about making a cool bench for the room? Thick, thick foam, a gorgeous piece of fabric, a staple gun, a bench from a thrift store, and some spray paint is all you would need. It would be great as a place to sit down to put on your heels, lay out your clothes or use as you are putting away the laundry. You could even find a bench with hidden storage underneath to store extra towels, blankets, sweaters, duffles, totes, etc. I'm sure there are tons of tutorials out there for something like this.
I would also find a super girly piece of art to frame in a very guilded frame for the room. It'll make it more of a 1940s boudoir, if you will. A coat of pale pink paint wouldn't hurt either!
Make sure to take before and after pics so we can see the transformation! I'm really excited that you have a closet like this. It'll be SO fun for you!
Oh I am jealo of your closet space! While I have a walk in I could always use more space! Ha!
I love the idea of a bench like she said above! You could use it for all the things she said and even store stuff under it. You might could even find one that was a storage unit itself.
Also, for a while, I had a chest of drawers in my closet. It made things so organizational to have everything in one place.
I have my jewelry on a bulletin board. I covered it with fabric and spray painted the sides and then put pushpins in it to hang some of my necklaces and bracelets from. I have so much jewelry, so I needed something practical but pretty to do with it.
Good ideas, ladies! Keep 'em coming!
Whitney, I actually have two chests in the closet. It will be nice to keep my accessories all together in those, and I was thinking of maybe lining the top drawer of one with pretty paper on the sides and maybe some velvet on the bottom so I could lay my nicer pieces of jewelery in there without having to put them away in boxes all the time.
cool ideas!!!
I love it when people paint their closets a bright, totally unexpected color. I think that is so neat. I would totally paint mine hot pink or turqoise if I had a closet the size of a room!
Soft pink or aqua also makes clothes look nice; it can transform a blah space into a serene (but still ladylike) room! I always hang pictures in my closets (even when they're tiny)--pictures of me & girlfriends, my mother and grandmother as young women...you could even include framed postcards of your style icons (Jackie O, anyone?). Mine are all in black & white, in silverplated and black mismatched frames...eclectic, but again, still ladylike.

I want a walk in closet so badly!!! One day Gwen, one day!!!
I have been discussing helping my sister with hers and she has a long narrow walk in with shelves/bars on one side. I think I have convinced her to get hooks for the other side to hand jewelry and floating shelves for bags. (hanging a bag by it's handles causes wear & tear) One day she'll learn to get with me first before buying a house then we'll find the best closets first. LOL!!!
Chiasso.com has a fun hand shaped hook that would great to put a robe on too. :)
Love the coat rack! Stuff that is interesting, a little out of the ordinary, but still simple is my favorite!
Love that first pic. Great idea.
