In addition to being a wife, I'm also a graduate student. As a matter of fact, I was a student before I was a wife, and I'm having a seriously hard time excelling at either while pursuing them both.
Today I'm in a good wifey spot: I'm organizing my workspace, making my way through the stack of unpacked boxes living in the garage that are marked "office." Today I'm in a so-so student spot: I'm hoping that if I can get the office totally unpacked and organized, it will be easier to work in here. (We'll see...)
I took a short break to check my email and learned that several Etsy shops are having a sale this weekend. One of the shops sells wall vinyls- you know, those things you stick on your living room wall that say "live, laugh, love." And let me tell you, this shop is selling a whole lot of them that say essentially (and possibly literally) that. I had to laugh.
I'm happily married, but I'm seriously lacking the "live, laugh, love" state of mind; I'm totally stressed out with my school work, trying to lose weight, etc. I'm just trying to get by here, people. I think the "live, laugh, love" state of mind only works if you can spend your time reading a Nicholas Sparks novel by the fire with a hand-knitted afghan tucked around you with a large sleepy dog at your feet.
And frankly, I don't really go for those kind of sentiments anyway... too touchy-feely. And if I want to use a wall vinyl to personalize my home, then I want it to be personal. In fact, for the last few days I've been meaning to look into having a wall vinyl made to say (in the words of my BFF Tim Gunn) "MAKE IT WORK, PEOPLE."

It's not a cozy, but it gets the job done. And when you're a wife/student or a student/wife or any other combination of things, sometimes that's all you can ask for.
